Call of Duty 7 Vietnam details leak?

While there's nothing official on what Call Of Duty developer Treyarch is currently up to, the heat is beginning to be turned up on rumours that it's busy making Call of Duty Vietnam. Here's the latest crop.

It's being suggested that Treyarch's title is set for a winter 2010 release (probably November this year, if the past is anything to go on) and it'll be based on conflicts from the Vietnam War.

PlanetXbox360 claims that Treyarch has relied heavily on technologies and ideas introduced by series creator Infinity Ward, which is probably a given.

Vietnam is said to focus heavily on the story, specifically the struggles of each individual platoon member. And pacing of the game is rumoured to follow movies such as Saving Private Ryan, Platoon, Apocalypse Now and Full Metal Jacket.

I dunno if i want another COD game like this i think they should either take it back to WW2 style missions or take it to more modern style like you know.

I did not like WAW much but i will give this one a shot either way

I can't stand WW2 games, World at War was bad enough but managed to complete it.

I much prefer the modern day war games with up to date technology.

I agree with shane, but I've never done vietnam so should be 'okay'. Don't expect anything groundbreaking though its Treyarch

Cod Vietnam has potential to be the elite of the cod series if and its a big IF its done right and a bit of jungle warfare would be awesome so i hope we get Vietnam.

I love the idea of a COD 'nam title. It's been tried a few times before, and mostly failed. But I think a decent Vietnam setting with the authentic weapons from the era (it's not that long ago people) and the platform IW have created for the Modern Warfare series could be a winning combination.

WaW wasn't ground breaking, but it was a refreshing break from the slurry of WW2 shooters that have been released over the last decade. I'd prefer Infinity Ward to stick to the Modern titles, one every 2 years is enough to keep people hyped for the next title, and Treyarch to keep experimenting with keeping the history alive. Sure, there's only so much you can do for the historical shooter genre, but if we were to apply modern gaming engines with other elements (read: Operation Flashpoint sandbox) then there is a possibility of a game set in a jungle environment being a frighteningly addictive prospect. Whether Treyarch can or will encapsulate that remains to be seen...

I agree with you there. There are a lot of IF's it's done right scenarios. There have been a handful of 'Nam games I have played on the PC over the years I think the last one I played was called Vietcong. The rendering was horrible in that game, but it has been several years and I think we are now at the graphics development stage where a Jungle Warefare scenario could be rendered to look quite decent!
I for one hope that they go through with a Vietnam title, because if there was to be a Vietnam title coming from anyone I would rather it be the biys on the Call of Duty teams as they have really yet to disappoint!

Conflict vietnam was a brilliant, if not really challenging, title and if treyarch were able to pull off something as good as that albeit in a more call of duty style I think it could be great.

Also don't knock treyarch! I'm pretty sure they done the original call of duty title for the pc and that's one of the best games I've ever played and got me more attatched to the characters than most games I can think of (:

Wasnt WaW Treyarch's last outing with the CoD titles i thought IW was taking over the reigns from MW2 onwards. unless im wrong and CoD7 is their last dance ?

First I've heard that to be honest Souly. All my points of reference still indicate a Treyarch release. Due out later this year, I can't see how IW would get it designed and released within 12 months if they were at the reigns.
