Same old Terry, always cheating.

Postby ACE » Fri Feb 05, 2010 10:40 pm

So come on guys, what do you think? Is Terry an absolute fool for cheating on an old team mate's ex-girlfriend, or is this the current breed of footballer we've all become accustom to. Is Capello right to strip him of the captaincy from the English national squad, or should his private life not come into it.

Let me know what you think, I've a number of thoughts on this if you're interested ;)

Well to be honest i think the stripping him of the captaincy was harsh ACE JT is a great leader on the field and a real professional and i find it quiet funny how this comes out in the world cup year.

John Terrys private life is just that his private life so it stays private personally i think John terry has done nothing wrong he has stood in front of the media and got on with his job at chelski.

But remember this wasn't the same old sorry story of a footballer cheating on his wife. He cheated with a fellow team mate's ex-girlfriend. Okay, so it was an ex, but the woman is the mother of Wayne Bridge's child. How many England players have a respect for Wayne Bridge who would agree that Terry was out of order? Would this make his position untennable, and what sort of example does this send to the youth of the country who look up to the national team as role models?

I've always thought Terry was a complete twat and at least my suspicions have now been confirmed so. Apparently this wasn't the first affair he's had and won't be the last.

I can't deny JT is a great defender, but if he unsettles the rest of the national side, then appropriate sanctions need to be put in place.

One last song for you all..... Chelsea, where ever you may be - don't let your wife near John Terry ;)

I do see where yer coming from ACE but should John Terry be striped as Chelsea captain as well because he decide to poke a ex teammates ex girlfriend to which ex is a big part there it takes to tango.

And as for Wayne bridge if he is still got feelings for this ex and he is with someone else then what about her thing is there is probs a lot more to this story than meets the eye.

Bridge is no longer a Chelsea player, but he's still in contention for a World Cup place. Let's say the two can no longer play on the same pitch together (however unprofessional that sounds) is it fair to immediately write Wayne Bridge off of the team sheet because John Terry is captain.

Also what a club chooses to do is entirely up to them, but when someone represents MY country, I want them to do so with the right mental attitude and without something the opposition can use to wind them up. When I used to play football, I used to find as much out about the person I was marking as possible and use it to put them off their game. In one season I got 5 players sent off just through winding them up. I don't for a second think this would work against a professional of Terry's stature and I sincerely believe he still has a deserved place in the national squad. But I don't feel he should be representing this great country as captain.

I also think it's wrong you bring Wayne Bridge into this by questioning his integrity to his ex. Regardless of who he's with now and what his feelings are to his ex, the woman is the mother of his child and Terry & her have made a disgrace of themselves by acting like two teenagers on a Friday night after a couple of Bacardi Breezers. I don't for a second think it was all Terry's doing, after all it's the woman who is selling the story to the national press. I guess I just expect so much more from the people who represent this nation whereas those that actually do think they're above the level of common decency!

You are right about 1 thing the players need to be giving 100% on the pitch which in fairness Terry does hence why i think he has been done up like a kipper here but again it don't matter how dumb you are that bit always works.

As for Bridge i dont think he is the quality he was and is he a given for a England place come the world cup remains to be seen.

But i know one thing John Terry will be there.

I don't disagree, I would have Terry in the squad over Bridge all day long, I just don't want Terry walking out as captain and representative of our Country. Imagine we won the world cup with him as captain, they'd stick a statue up of him outside Wembley! :O As much as I'd except that because we're long overdue another World Cup sometime soon, it would sicken me each time going up to Wembley with that moron's statue ever present.

I don't think anyone can genuinely say he's been done up like a kipper. This is all entirely his own doing, he should be responsible for his actions. I do agree to some extent that the private life of a player shouldn't affect the professional aspect of his career, which is why I think Chelsea would have no right to drop him as Captain as he's still the best player for it there. But at national level his position as captain is untenable, it's as simple as that.

Having said all of that, Rio Ferdinand as captain? :O In football terms I think JT is a much better captain than him, I'm not sure I agree with it being handed to Rio personally. As much as it pains me to say it, I think Lampard is probably the most worthy captain now and is always the model professional! Just don't tell any Chelsea fans I ever said that. Especially ahead of the match tomorrow :P

The media have seriously dented our world cup hopes as usual and we havent even kicked a ball yet. The F.A. are complete hypocrites as whom ever they choose ( who is actually captain material ) has had some bad press. the only players i can think of who

A. are considered first team england players and B. are captain material are as follows

John Terry whom has been stripped of his role as captain.
Rio Ferdinand who failed to turn up to a drugs test < is this a role model we want leading our national team out in south africa ? not to mention the guy might not even be a first teamer come june due to his bad form and injuries.

Steven Gerrard - caught on CCTV fighting in a club/Bar

Wayne Rooney - had bad press about cheating on Coleen and paying a pensioner prostitute for sex.

these are the only viable options for captain people throw the name of Lampard in the mix but i dont cnsider him a vital england player nor captain material.

should i be demoted at work if i slept with my workmates ex ? what goes on in private life should remain there and not affect my line of work.

everybody knows that John Terry is a tosser he has been since he was a youngster at chelsea but we also know he is the best organisational defender in the game ( even if his general defending abilities are alot to be desired ) he really is a man motivator and a dominating presence

Sorry but comparing you doing something like this at work to John Terry's indiscretions are a completely incomparable notion. For someone who gets paid £100,000+ a week and lives in the public eye to do something as stupid as he did, then try and gag the press with a court order is just unacceptable.

Do I care that the guy had an affair? No. Do I care it was with an ex-team mate's ex girlfriend? No. Do I care that he's still Captain at Chelsea. No. Do I even care he'll still be playing for our Country at the world cup? No!

Frankly I don't care about any of this, but as it stands RIGHT NOW he is not in a position to lead his national side following his actions.

As you mentioned with all of the above, many players from the England team have sordid pasts - but that doesn't mean I don't believe they could be captain again. It's the same with Terry. I'm not saying he's not the best man for the job, he arguably is. And I'm not saying he can never be England captain again, but after this sorry mess he needs to be stepped down and I am completely behind Capello's decision to do so.

If Terry sticks to his word, works hard & keeps his head down I have every faith he can regain the position - but right now, Capello has to take this decision for our Country. We don't need these issues clouding our football.

It could be worse, we could still have Sven in charge encouraging Wives & Girlfriends along to major tournaments and allowing the press to have field days tailing them as they go about their daily shopping habits and distract the footballers from the task at hand. I have every faith in Capello's decision to ban the "WAGS" from the World Cup and you can completely understand why when stories of infidelity amongst the camp surface.

Think is Capello had to be seen to make a stand and the decision he made would reflect on the whole team if he left Terry as captain it would have give out the wrong signal to fans, the FA, and more importantly the players. And what was interesting was how the FA came out and said the decision is completely up to Capello.

The FA totally backed away fro the situation in there usual manner and for me this was almost a test for Cappello by the FA. John Terry as a player is the best Captain for England but the question is was he thinking England while he was sleeping with this young women i don't think so.

I don't know the full story but rumor is this young women was sleeping with half the Chelsea squad also so again was our Great Leader as the Chelsea fans call him thinking of England and the Captaincy while he was with this women i doubt it. Which ever way you look at it John Terry is a dickhead or just twat because he must have known this women would go to the press or is it or was it a case of here is 20k shut up and go shopping.

I agree, Capello had no alternative really and would have been slated whichever option he'd taken.

Again, I don't know much about the story either (I don't care for gossip or tabloid sensationalism) but it's also reported that he's been sleeping around for years, this isn't the first time. Either way as harsh as it might seem, I can't see how it could have been handled in any other way.

Interesting news today from Fabio Capello that he has said John Terry will never be captain while he is in charge. This just goes to show players and the media that you don't mess with him.

I thought this was announced yesterday, but yes very interesting news indeed. And while, despite my views on Terry previously and, believing he should have a chance to win back the captaincy I can't help but admire Capello's courage and determination in this matter. The sort of manager England should have had after Bobby Robson in the 90's perhaps??

I agree Ace who knows what we may have done with capello in charge. Was funny at the weekend in the Chelsea v City game when John Terry and Wayne Bridge would not shake hands.

And while i can see why they took that stance it kinda makes the issue more public and allows the media to drag more out of it what has pissed me of though is Wayne Bridge pulling out of the World Cup Squad because that could be his last chance of a world cup and what If England was to win it you would feel pretty gutted knowing that Pride stopped you from a world cup winners medal.

I have to say the Chelsea fans were disgraceful last weekend booing Wayne Bridge, shows a complete lack of class from them. That said, I really don't get Bridge's reasoning for pulling out of the squad. I appreciate he doesn't want to share a dressing room with him, but these are professional footballers. Given the chance to stand for and represent my country in the worlds biggest sporting competition, nothing would stop me. Especially some jumped up scroat of a team-mate cheating with my partner.

I agree totally as i said he will feel gutted if England was to the world cup and Terry gets a medal and he don't i guess then the media will say Terry is the bigger man as he faced it all. As for Chelsea,s so called fans i think they was terrible considering this is a former Chelsea player

I didnt go to the game due to posting on here ACE lol and playing on Heavy Rain but i watched the highlights and will say this is a victory for John Terry and he has made in my eyes Wayne Bridge look a wimp. Because he has faced it all head on and not hid like Bridge has dont get me wrong i do feel sorry for Bridge but i think in the fans eyes he has turned his back on his country where as John Terry hasn't Terry has stood there and took it all on the chin and got on with his game.
