Sony have confirmed to Ultimate PlayStation today, that long awaited driving simulator Gran Turismo 5 will have a demo available to download on the PlayStation Store on 17th December, that’s just 2 weeks away!

UltimatePlayStation.com presents Gran Turismo 5

If that news in itself wasn’t enough to make you jump in your car and start tearing round your neighbourhood at ridiculous speeds (Ultimate PlayStation doesn’t endorse speeding motorists!), then the following information regarding the demo may be the next best thing.

The ’GT Academy 2010 Time Trial’ demo is aimed at finding the nation’s top drivers who will be asked to attend a final to take on other international winners

Sony went on to release the following statement; "Last year the GT Academy programme unearthed a real driving talent in the form of Lucas Ordenez from Spain, who after winning the GT Academy went on to drive for the Nissan PlayStation race team and take an astonishing second place in the GT4 Championship - all in his first season," explains Sony.

As for the demo: "It will be the first opportunity to get a hands-on taster as to what Yamauchi-san and his Polyphony team have been carefully crafting and polishing at their Tokyo base,".

It’ll contain a brand new GT5 course, and players will get to experience the power of two differently tuned variants of the Nissan 370Z: "Firstly a blisteringly fast, race-tuned monster and secondly an only slightly less fearsome non-tuned version," says Sony.

What do you think? Can you not wait for the demo to finally get your hands on the new look GT5, or are you all a little bit bored waiting for the game to eventually release? Let us know at the Ultimate PlayStation forums.
